Aiphone AX-8M Audio-Only Master Station for AX Series Integrated Audio & Video Security System Review

Aiphone AX-8M Audio-Only Master Station for AX Series Integrated Audio & Video Security System

The Aiphone AX-8M audio-only master station for AX Series connects to up to seven additional master stations, up to eight door or sub-master stations, and a central exchange unit (sold separately) to create a security system throughout a building. Up to seven Aiphone AX-16SW selectors (sold separately) can be used to connect a total of 112 additional sub-master or door stations to the system. The door-release button works with an electric strike or magnetic lock (sold separately) to remotely unlock the entrance for the visitor. Each master, sub-master, and door station has its own labeled button on the master station to enable selectable and direct calling, and each button has an LED that indicates which one is calling. The all-call button broadcasts to every master station connected in the system. The privacy button prevents other intercom users in the system from overhearing a conversation with another intercom.

A call can be answered by either holding down the answering button for push-to-talk action or by tapping the answering button for hands-free communication with the caller. The call tone volume is adjustable. The station has a 3.5-mm jack to connect a headset, handset, or speaker (sold separately). A footswitch (sold separately) can be attached for hands-free operation of the master station. Calls can be sent directly to a landline phone through the use of a Viking K-1900-5 callswitch (sold separately). The station has black ABS plastic housing and includes a flip stand for desk mounting and a metal bracket for wall-mounting to a two-gang box or ring. The station is powered by the Aiphone central exchange unit.
